How do I get to the hiking trails?

You can access the hiking trails via the Whistler Village Gondola and Blackcomb Gondola when you purchase a sightseeing ticket, which also gives access to the incredible PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola, a Whistler must-do. Spend the day on the mountain and enjoy a memorable meal with spectacular views.

Important Information on Day-Use Passes

Some BC Parks, including Garibaldi Provincial Park and Joffre Lakes Park, require Day-Use passes due to high visitor volumes. Passes are free and can be reserved online beginning at 7 AM, two days in advance of your planned visit. See more information at bcparks.ca.

The other mountains around Whistler are home to hiking trails of varying lengths and ability levels, making Whistler the perfect place to stay while you explore the Coast Mountains on foot. Winter Hiking

Due to snow cover, many trails in Whistler are unavailable for hiking during winter. If you feel the need to stretch your legs in the snow, bring sturdy winter footwear and consider the following ideas:

  • Snowshoeing – if you can walk, you can snowshoe on trails in and around Whistler
  • Take a winter walk on the Valley Trail. Sections of the Valley Trail are maintained over winter.

Half Day Crater Rim Hike Follow a rocky trail towards Logger’s Lake that quickly gains elevation as excellent views of the valley start to pop up. The trail evens out as you enter the lush forest and within minutes are rewarded with one of the most scenic views of Loggers Lake and the surrounding area. From $149 per person

Full Day Garibaldi Lake Hike (Trail Pass included) A slight yet consistent incline up sharp switchbacks to an impressively large glacier-fed alpine lake sitting in a deep basin. Hike past the Barrier lookout, a momentus rockwall of crumbling lava that supports Garibaldi Lake. The trail circles the Barrier Basin through changing vegetation, with rhododendron and lupine growing next to the path until reaching the powder-blue waters of Lesser Lake, to eventually marvel at the surreal green waters popping out against glaciated peaks beyond. Full Day Iceberg Lake Hike Follow 19-mile creek on a steady uphill forested trail with multiple waterfalls and viewpoints before emerging into an alpine meadow, affording glorious views of Rainbow Mountain and Weart Glacier. A short hike through a boulder field ends at Iceberg Lake, bordered by the remains of a glacier that dumps small icebergs into the lake, hence the name. From $199 per person
